This has to be one of the coolest illusions ever! To my knowledge, John Sadowski is the original creator of this type of illusions. This is how it works: just stare at the dot for 30 seconds. This is animated gif file, that keeps repeating infinately. After about 20 seconds, grey scaled image of spanish castle will appear, but as your eyes adapt to the inverted image you were seeing first, you will see black&white image change to COLOR! Amazing! you people who think its fake dont seem to get the idea of this thing. We can all see that the picture changes to black and white. The illusion is that the black-and-white image LOOKS like its in colour because your eyes have become used to seeing the reversed colours.

You guys don’t understand it. We all know the picture changes into another one. But if your looking at the black dot when it’s multicolored, when the black and white image comes on, it will appear in color. But if you don’t look at the black dot when it’s multi colored and it changes, it stays black and white.
You guys are retarded. The picture actually changes. This is how you can tell. On the first image, there are words at the bottom. It says stare at the dot. Then the words dissapear… hmm… Even if you aren’t looking at the picture, it changes.

um… next time read the instructions before you actually do it… that will clear up a lot of this confusion. Great illusion! I love it!
Ok, the problem is that most of you don’t understand this illusion. Yes, it does swap between two different pics, one being inverted and the other being black and white. That’s not the point. you’re supposed to stare at the inverted pic, and when it swaps to the black and white pic, at first it will look as if it were faintly colored. This effect goes away after you move your eyes. Most people don’t see the effect because you have to focus solely on the middle of the pic, and they have to know exactly what happens.
AHAHAHAHA!!!… Ah.. I’m not done yet… HAHAHAHA!…. Okay, I’ve explained this on the two other illusions like this on the website so I’m not going to explain all of it again. Ok dude, FIRST OFF. If you have the image on your screen and just look around and then look at it you can see the image changing. You don’t have to look directly at it to see it change. SECOND, your eyes don’t adjust with the flick of a switch. It would be gradual. Not all at once, like this picture is suggesting. and THIRD. If you keep looking at it, the picture reverts back to the first ‘inverted’ image, even if you are still staring at it. Your eyes should have still been adjusted.

Most of you are blockheaded nobained idiotic retards. when you see an afterimage, it is the inverted pic of it burnt onto ur retina. when u look at the black and white pics, u can see the true image. the first image is a special one, that burns a proper image on the retina, and the second one is black and white. It is a true illusion. would the TECHNOGIRL, knower of all things sci, lie to u? So it is a true illusion and stop ur babbling.
Why dont all you retard actually READ, if you can read. It says quite clearly that the image is an animated GIF, but to click a link to take you to the actual image that performs the optical illusion. TARDS!!!!
lol @ the people who don’t get this… but like someone else said it went, yellow-blue pic 1st then colour version, then black and white… nicely done.. would this work with any pic? or would you need to alter the original colours (in this case the blue-ish yellow one) with other colours for other images?

lmao, when i first saw this i was like “holy shit.” o.o cause i got a bit startled and then i looked at the comments to read that it was just pictures changing colors.
It actually works! if you keep staring at black dot it will stay colour until you lose concentration. If you don’t look at the black dot at all it will stay black and white.
If you still think that it is really an illusion, try this. Put ur hand on the picture so u can only see a small conner. Thats mean no black dot, no castle, just a small brown conner. This way the illusion shouldn’t happen. But wait for 20 or 30 sec, the brown become black—>the picture just simply be replaced by another one.
The point is that after staring at the dot for 20seconds on the first image the rods and cons of your eye become sensitized to the colors, when you look at the black and white image it then will appear to be in color due to the sensitization. Your eyes will restore to normal after a few seconds.
Anyone who is saying this is fake has down syndrome.

The “changing” of the picture is not the illusion here. The color negative is not the “trick.”
if you stare at the dot, like the instructions tell you to… the B&W image appears to be in FULL color (not color negative).
If you can’t follow directions, I guess you won’t get it… and resort to calling it fake.
If you do follow directions, you likely saw the same awesome effect I did. Kudos for posting this.

TIP! after pic changes to black and white, KEEP staring at the center, DONT look away from center and picture will appear to u as if its full color. as soon as you look away from the dot in center it will turn back to black and white.
if you can manage to have enough mind control to keep staring at the dot without budging your eyes anywhere else, the black and white pic will appear to be in color for surprisingly long time, depends how long you hold ur eyes still…
