Palm Tree Shadow

What the...?! How come this pole has a shadow shaped like palm tree, when it's obvious it has nothing to do with it? Well, it's a campaign of some sort, to protect the nature and rise people's awarness, and the palm tree shadow is just painted on the sidewalk to give impression it's there. Clever idea, have to admitt...

Thats pretty clever. It probably would have surprised me if I saw it in real life.

    thats cool. i like it!

  3. Anonymous NoNo

Nah. There are leaves at the top.

(Look at the shape of the trunk.)

There aren't leaves at the top. Seeing as a shadow within a shadow can't be that dark, therefore it is painted. Pretty clever.

is it no it cant be but is it

read the post, smart ones down there

it says nothing can replace a tree they are making a statement...its not a real shadow and you dont have to prove it by looking at the shadow!

  7. Anonymous Spud

i agree with kate. what's with people always trying to prove the illusion wrong instead of admiring it?

  8. Anonymous julia

this is cool, i wonder what kind of critics wouldn't take this website at its word that this is a real illusion

  13. Anonymous Mars

    thats really cool

  14. Anonymous Andrew

The whole shadow is painted bob. Notice that the post's shadow goes a different direction than the building shadows.

  15. Anonymous Tiny

That slogan's a really good idea. "nothing can replace a tree" Cool!

  16. Anonymous confused

the leaves r painted but its like still totally awesome!!!

  17. Anonymous duh!

    look...

the whole shadow is painted. there is no way that the shadow of the pole is going to be darker than the shadow of the object behind it. if only the leaves were painted then the shadow of the "trunk" would not start at the base but would have dissapeared with the other shadow.

    ...geez...

I really like the message in this one.

  19. Anonymous Seve

Shadows don't change shade. Shadows are AWAYS the same shade. And if you'll notice, the trunk of the palm tree is a lot darker than the other shadow . . . hmm, it must be some sort of divine intervention from the paint gods themselves!

the whole shadow is painted you can tell because the other ones in the background go in a different direction.

This must prouve that if you cut down a tree, it can't be replaecet

this is good but can you read this?

ni iths pcieutr het sahdow is a ibt to drak athlohgu it is a grtae picrute!

  23. Anonymous Anonymous

I agree with Andrew, the whole shadow is painted, the shadows of other things are at a diff angle than the "tree" shadow.

Anonymous: your anagramatic sentence is ubersimple. the translation is:

In this picture the shadow is a bit to [sic?] dark although it is a great picture.

It took me less than a minute to translate, no offence intended.

the annoying thing about that picture would be that it would only work at that time of day at all, and only perfectly on one time of one day of the year. But it's still an amazing piece of art, and a great message.

  25. Anonymous s

what about when the real shadow of the pole moves when the sun moves?

so it only works at certain times of the day?

  26. Anonymous Anonymous

That's stupid. Notice the entire pole isn't included in the picture? There could be an actual palm tree ornamentation just out of site.

  27. Anonymous Ririn

This is not a true pic. It was used as a compaign, obviously. It could have been photoshopped or whatever, but I assure, There was NO tree around the area.

  28. Anonymous Anonymous

    Freaking Awesome!!!

  29. Anonymous Anonymous

it isnt a shadow of the post because there is already a shadow over it. and if u read the post it says nothing can replace a tree. duhhh =]]
