All the rest are just our eyes trying to recognize the difference between the colors and we're seeing flickering black spots. Can't explain it better than that, however there is only one black spot. That way you'll find the proof there are yero black spots. The illusion appears because you are using 2 eyes to see the picture, and the pictures fro 2 eyes merge together. THERE ARE NO BLACK DOTS, only white dots. and remember, we're talking dots, not spots. but why zero (aside from the center)? it's cause you're brain somehow interprets these white dots as black when you glance around. maybe it's because of the contrasting background colors, (black contrasts white) and the background is black while the grid is white. I don't have a specific explanation for it, but I'm sure it has something to do with your brain interpretation due to contrasting colors. nothing more, nothing less. if you're in doubt, try making a red and green or a yellow and purple one instead of a black and white. either way, the contrast will always appear if it is arranged in such a way as that spiral. remember, contrasting colors! simple.
