Look at the chart below and quickly say the color, not the word. This prooves how our brain uses each side of the brain for different action: your right side of the brain want’s you to say the color, but the left side insists on reading the word!

Six seconds. I can read, am not color blind, and looked right at each word in question. I happen to be good at this, but it has nothing to do with one’s IQ.

i did my science fair on this
it is called the stroop effect
it was invented by jonh ridley stroop in 1935
It is a factor that demonstrates the influence of inference on a person’s reaction time.
it occurs because people actually read words faster then they con recognize colours, so their brain develops a preconceived idea of what the colour will be. but when the colour turns out to not match that idea, their brain receives conflicting signals. the brain must actually deal with those signals and chose the correct one.
it is also true that is you read slowly (and have not have practice with this) then you will complete this faster, as the strength of those signals is lessened

really, some girls and boys are equal so shut up you retards. if you think you are sooooo smart then you really aren’t, and that was very easy and i’m 12.

  4. Whilst we are on subject of reading and
    visual cognizance,
PROVE has just the one “O”. I would have
mentioned it earlier but this IS my 1st visit.

  5. Hey Ahn says:

Used to find this really confusing but surprisingly, on this site, I found it a lot easier. I say just focus on the color of the words, not on the letters. ;>

  6. stuart says:

These ones are fairly easy you can either blur your eyes or just read it so fast that the words loose their meaning and it just becomes a colour.

  7. akiel says:

lefties can do it better cuz they use their right brain more than the left

  8. Chris says:

  9. Radical Bombs says:

  17. Debra Savage says:

Got it first time no problem while I was talking to my cousin in Texas who was going nuts over it. I advised her to walk away and come back it would come to her. She got it as soon after I got it. Great stuff!

  18. Ellie says:

….everyone trying to determine whether gender is a major component needs to calm down, because it has nothing to do with it. It all depends on which side of your brain is dominant.

And really? Some of you need to check your own spelling before trying to call people stupid.

  19. rabbit says:

I did this in science at school because we had to do a project about eyes/colours and I was the best in the class.

  20. Bruno says:

This is very interesting to me since english is not my native language, I still get confused but I don’t say the tranlation of the word, instead I say the word that is similar to that in portuguese(exemple: Purple-”Preto” black in portuguese) or I say the word itself in english, even if I’m saying the collor out loud in portuguese. Wierd uh?
